Major Updates for Christ-Alive

I believe most persons who are involved with the planting of our church here in Lake Havasu will agree that our most successful method of growth has been through the Spirit of Freedom Christian Intervention Program.

Rev. Rick Faulkner, of Hemet, Ca. is the regional supervior for Spirit of Freedom, and to facilitate the organization of a chapter in Lake Havasu, during the early part of May, he joined with Pastor Buxton to make calls on various organizations in the area. Among these were judges, probation offices, the Lake Havasu city council, mayor of Lake Havasu, Interagency, United Way, State of Arizona Department of Correction, Mohave County Probation Department, Mohave Mental Health Clinic, Child Protection Services, and the Arizona Department of Economic Security Administration.

Michael Buxton regularly teaches the class, but tomorrow night Pastor Buxton will teach as Michael is on vacation. Pastor will be teaching the 16th lesson. We have had phenomenal success with this program. Close to 20 persons are enrolled.

Two Sundays ago, there were four CIP members in church; including their families and friends there were 19 people in church--directly related to the CIP program!

Watch for pictures of those CIP members who have been baptized!

First Baptism After Pastor G. R. Buxton Arrives

Sylvia was the first one to be baptized after Pastor Gerald Buxton arrived in Lake Havasu. She is being baptized here in her own pool.

At our first Easter service we had a grand total of 29 people! Four of them were children, leaving of course 25 adults. We were ecstatic. Four of us are missing from this picture, but I wanted you to gaze on these beautiful people that God is working on here in this city.

A Little Recent History

Over a year ago now, after a life-changing experience with God, Michael Buxton invited friends and family to join with him in a series of weekly Bible studies taught by his brother Andrew of the San Diego area. From the beginning it was evident that God's approval was on this endeavor. Several people were baptized and were filled with the Holy Ghost--as has been shown on previous posts on this blog.

Because of increasing family responsibilities, and those of the church he pastors in La Mesa, Andrew was not able to continue the commute to Lake Havasu. Consequently, the weekly Bible studies faltered.

In the meantime, Gerald Buxton, who had retired from pastoring in 1996, but who was still actively involved in ministry, felt a burden to come here to Lake Havasu to resume the Bible studies and to lead the work to the next level, that of a bona-fide church. In early February of 2007, he and his wife, Shirley, loaded in their clothes and other necessities and moved their motor home to DJs RV Park. February 11th was the date of the first Sunday service.

It has been forward and upward from there. Lake Havasu is a thriving, growing city, now exceeding 50,000 people, and of a certainty, Christ Alive Worship Center is needed here.

Keep watching this spot for current (and catch-up) news of this fledgling church.
